Apple and Biometrics In The News
In today’s world, we all have a Smartphone (well, most of us do). And, most of the Smartphones which are operated today is that of the iPhone. Heck, even some of the biggest players out there are even having a hard time to keep up with the pace of the iPhone, most notable Research In Motion, the famous makers of the Blackberry. They have been in a recent downfall lately, and much of this has been attributed to the fact that they have been unable to keep up with the fury of the iPhone storm. But, it is not just the iPhone which is having a huge success, just about everything and anything Apple related is having success. Take into these statistics:
*Some 60% of the Fortune 100 companies are using the iPad;
*Sales of the iPad are expected to reach an almost 50 million tablets by 2012;
*An overhwhelming 80% of the Fortune 500 companies are using, or are planning to implement the iPhone;
*It is estimated that 90 million iPhones will be sold in 2011 alone;
*And more, I am sure!
But given this trend into such a massive and immediate adoption of all things Wireless, comes a much increased need for Security. And what would be a better choice than Biometrics??? A Biometric Vendor known as “S.I.C. Biometrics, Inc.” has been a dominant provider of Biometrics Technologies for all things Apple related. In fact, they have been credited with creating and implementing the very first Fingerprint Reader for an Apple device.
There has been announcement that, a major Biometrics Vendor known as “BIO-key International, Inc.” has signed a letter of intent to acquire S.I.C. Biometrics. Of course, there is still a lot more work to be done, especially in the way of paperwork, due diligence, and other regulatory matters. But, it is expected that this transaction will occur by the 4th quarter of this year. This highly anticipated M and A activity is sure to bring about many advantages and benefits, most notably, an explosion of more Biometrics onto the Wireless scene, especially in way of “snap on Biometrics”.
This is another avenue of Biometrics, which is also becoming popular. But keep in mind, 4Q will be an exciting time when this M and A Activity will take place. It will come close to the time of the holidays, and a secured Apple device will only proliferate the thirst for these devices, as they will make great gifts, and stocking stuffers.
Read more about this buyout activity, and the further advantages and benefits it brings to the Biometrics and Wireless industry as a whole. You can download the Press Release here:
